News: Independence County Sheriff’s deputy killed in single-vehicle crash while on duty

INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, AR – Authorities say an Independence County Sheriff’s Deputy died in a car accident early Thursday morning, reports White River Now.

According to Arkansas State Police, Deputy Frank Ramirez was on duty while driving his Dodge Charger east on State Highway 14 when the wreck took place at about 12:50 a.m.

Investigators said the 29-year-old Ramirez was navigating a left curve when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed, sustaining fatal injuries.  The roadway was wet at the time from rain, police said.

The Independence County Sheriff’s Department posted a message on Facebook that read in part, “Ramirez was married with two young children. This is a time of tremendous grief for our agency, his family, and our communities. Pray for Ramirez’s family blood and blue, our community, and our department!”
